Pastoral Care
Our Team
Pastoral Care at Kiltarlity and Kirkhill is based on the words of Jesus in John 13:34 - ‘A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.’
Just as Jesus is our good shepherd Peter calls us to be shepherds of our congregation and, at times, the wider parish. ‘To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them’ 1 Peter 5: 14

Pastoral care within the parish is provided by our minister, elders and pastoral care team as we seek to love one another as Christ has shown His love for us.
Asking for help can sometimes be challenging but we all need a little extra help from time to time.
The Pastoral Care Team is available to assist in various practical ways. There are cards in each church building that are available to make requests for prayer and visitation, and we also have a contact email (pastoralcareteam@kiltarlityandkirkhill.org.uk) for getting in touch with the team, or requesting in confidence, a visit or prayer. All information is kept private and confidential.
Loving each other
‘This is about loving each other well as Jesus loves us’ (John 13: 34). More specifically pastoral care is concerned with:

-
Emotional, mental, physical and spiritual well-being. Providing a listening hear if you like to talk.(James 5: 14-16)

-
Strengthening and sustaining those in difficult places. Providing support during tough times, visiting you at home if coming to church is difficult, in hospital or a care home. (Isaiah 40:29)

-
Offering prayer for those who find themselves lost and in need of direction.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Matthew 11: 28-30
